Iranian police officials have admitted that detainees were abused while they are held at Tehran’s Kahrizak prison. Last month, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei ordered the prison closed because of rights violations. The government then launched an investigation into post-election arrest and detentions. Thousands were detained in the campaign against opposition activist and protestors after the disputed presidential election on June 12^th. Thursday Iranian published the official police statement based on the investigation. It calls for two security guards to be punished or abusing detainees and for supervisors of the prison to be punished or dismissed.
